RockCreek’s Smart Futures team announced a growth equity investment in Renewance, which is managing and optimizing the batteries at the heart of the energy transition.
The Rockefeller Foundation announced that RockCreek founder and CEO Afsaneh Beschloss will serve on its Board of Trustees.
The foundation, which was established by the Rockefeller family in 1913, works to promote the well-being of humanity and make opportunity universal by focusing on scaling renewable energy, stimulating economic mobility, and ensuring equitable access to healthy and nutritious food for all. The Rockefeller Foundation noted Afsaneh’s three-decade career focused on “using the power of sustainable finance to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges.”
“We know that access to creative capital fuels growth and spurs job opportunities in underserved and under-resourced communities globally, and at the same time, we know that the market won’t deliver everywhere and for everyone,” Afsaneh said. “This is why I am thrilled to work alongside this incredible Board of Trustees at The Rockefeller Foundation, which is a true leader in using its philanthropic capital, convening power, and innovative partnerships to overcome those market barriers and reach communities all over the world and right here in the United States.”
Dr. Rajiv J. Shah, President of The Rockefeller Foundation, called Afsaneh, “a true pioneer in climate policy and investments.”
“Her expertise and leadership on our Board of Trustees will help us leverage what we call ‘the RF difference’ to ensure that opportunity becomes more universal and sustainable by making access to capital, advances in data, science, and innovation more equitable,” Dr. Shah said.
